What CodePark keeps, and why
CodePark is a free practice tool. It keeps only what it needs to remember your progress.
As a guest
Your progress stays in your browser (IndexedDB and local storage) and isn’t sent to the server. Only the usage reports below leave it.
With an account
- From GitHub or Google: your name, email address and profile picture, to identify your account. CodePark never sees your password.
- Your practice: results and timings, sessions, bookmarks, lessons read, settings and the code you save or submit.
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. There are no advertising cookies.
Usage and crash reports
To see what helps and to fix bugs, CodePark can send usage and crash reports to a third-party analytics service hosted in the EU. They go through CodePark’s own domain.
- What’s sent: the pages you open, when you start and finish a session, each item’s result, time and hints, lessons you read, links you share, and errors the app hits.
- How the pages are used: the buttons and links you click, and a recording of the screen (what moves, what you click and scroll), to find what is confusing or broken.
- What’s never sent: your email, name or picture, your code, your answers or your notes. In recordings, everything you type and everything that shows your code, answers, name or email is hidden before it leaves your browser. A signed-in account is known only by a random id.
- The analytics service keeps a random id in your browser’s storage, so a return visit counts as the same visitor.
- If your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is sent.
- When you open a CodePark short link (like codepark.app/go/reddit), the server records the link, the time and your country, but not your IP address. Those records are deleted after 13 months.
Code you write
Your code runs only in your browser. The server stores it when you finish an attempt or save it, so you can see your past solutions, and never runs it.
Your control
- Download everything as a file at any time from Settings → Account.
- Clear your progress in one bank, or everything, from Settings → Progress. A copy is kept for 30 days so you can restore it, then it’s deleted.
- Deactivate your account from Settings → Account: you’re signed out everywhere and the account is hidden, but nothing is deleted. Sign in again to reactivate it.
- To have your account and all of its data deleted for good, send us a message or email support@codepark.app from the address you sign in with. It’s done by hand.
Messages you send us
A message from the contact page is stored with the email address you give, so we can reply. It’s delivered to our inbox by a third-party email service.
Sharing
Your data isn’t sold or shared. It’s stored with the hosting and database providers that run CodePark, usage reports with the analytics service, and messages you send us with the email service.
