What is the current state of HTTP/2 server push in browsers?

Major browsers have removed support; 103 Early Hints and preload are used instead

Major browsers have removed server push. It was hard to use well. Servers often pushed files the browser already had in its cache, which wasted bandwidth.

103 Early Hints replaces it. The server sends hints about files to preload, and the browser still decides what to fetch.

"It is the recommended way to send CSS before the HTML" is wrong. That was the original idea behind push, but browsers no longer support it.
